Launch of new research initiative at the Responsible Gaming Summit

On the Responsible Gaming Summit 2015 in Mariehamn a new research initiative launched by PAF. PAF is a publically owned gambling company licensed and controlled by the local Åland government in Finland. PAF has agreed to fund a PhD-student at Stockholm University (the estimated cost is 3 000 000 SEK for the full 4 years). The position will soon be publically  announced and everyone is encouraged to apply. My hope is that the new PhD-student can start early 2016.

The focus of the research will be on techniques for minimizing problem gambling. I will be the main supervisor and we have full academic freedom. Having academic freedom is very important especially in the light of industry-funded research and conflict of interest in the tobacco industry.
